Helix is a 6 1/2 circle design and can be assembled in a left or right hand direction. Track can be laid down easily as you build each circle of the helix. The helix is very easy to assemble and includes easy to follow instructions. It is constructed of a premium grade plywood which is very sturdy, stable, and resistant to moisture and humidity (unlike MDF or other plywoods). The helix is designed with a 17 1/4 inch inside track radius and a 19 inch outside track radius so that longer cars (such as 85' passenger cars and container cars) can navigate the curves without bumping each other causing derailment. The track grade is a comfortable 2 1/4% which allows for good performance with long cars and long trains. Curved sections of the helix have premarked track layout lines to easily locate track on helix. Track can be glued down or track spikes (such as Micro Engineering #30-106) can be "pushed in" to the plywood, no drilling is necessary. Flextrack of any manufacturer may be used. Track with a similar radius may be used, (contact seller for more information). All clearances exceed NMRA Standards. The helix ships for free with UPS Ground Service. All trains, track, wiring and scenery not included.
